Support / direct from the bench

How this all works.

One person builds the pedals and answers the email. If this page does not cover your situation, write to me directly—I would rather sort it out than have you guess.

05 / FAQ

Common questions.

And a few uncommon ones that keep turning up anyway.

What power supply do these need?
Use standard 9 V DC, centre-negative power. Hat Man draws about 40 mA. You Need to Wake Up draws 200 mA and should use an isolated output rated for at least 300 mA. Critical Mass works with ordinary pedal power; an isolated supply is always the better habit.
Do they take batteries?
No. Everything runs from the DC jack.
Are these true bypass?
Hat Man uses a latching relay for true bypass. You Need to Wake Up can run hard relay bypass or trails via its internal switch. Critical Mass uses true-bypass switching for each drive side independently.
Can you build something custom?
Sometimes. Custom finishes and small circuit changes are often possible; a whole new design depends on what else is on the bench. Ask and I will give you a straight answer about timing.
Do you offer dealer pricing?
Get in touch. It depends on volume and the current build queue, but I am open to it.
Where does the name come from?
You know where the name comes from.
How do I reach you?
Email [email protected]. It goes to me, and I usually answer the same day.
